The method

A structured bridge between psychological insight and daily life.

The Anchor-Based Approach is a psychological methodology developed by Dr Hanan Bushkin. It helps organise meaningful direction, observable behaviour, tracking and review into a coherent sequence.

01

Clarify direction

Identify what matters and where meaningful forward motion is needed.

02

Build a blueprint

Translate direction into a practical strategy and a clear next behaviour.

03

Make behaviour visible

Move the work into daily life, where action can be observed rather than merely intended.

04

Track and recalibrate

Review what happened and improve the strategy without turning difficulty into personal failure.

The anchor structure

Fifteen anchors create a whole-life frame.

ABA organises 15 anchors into nine core anchors and six sub-anchors. An anchor is a defined area of life that helps locate where attention is needed, clarify what matters and connect meaningful direction with practical action and review.

Together, the anchors provide a structured view of life as an interconnected whole while helping a person focus on the area most relevant to the next step.

A complete framework

Nine principles. One coherent way to move life forward.

ABA connects the way people interpret experience with the direction they choose, the behaviour they practise and the evidence they use to refine their approach.

Direction and meaning

  • Identify the areas of life that matter most
  • Recognise the state from which choices are being made
  • Clarify the direction worth moving towards
  • Connect present decisions with a meaningful future

Action and adaptation

  • Translate direction into realistic behaviour
  • Use structured plans to reduce ambiguity
  • Track what happened in everyday life
  • Learn, recalibrate and continue with greater precision

Professional standards

Built for clear, ethical and credible application.

ABA is developed and communicated within established professional standards. Professional application is grounded in appropriate training, registration, competence, scope and ethical practice.

Methodological coherence

A shared language that can travel across personal, professional and institutional settings.

Clear terminology, ordered principles and a repeatable action-and-review cycle allow ABA to be taught consistently while remaining responsive to context and professional judgement.

Question from the ABA community · 01

What is the Anchor-Based Approach in practical terms?

Dr Hanan Bushkin

Psychologist · Founder of ABA

The Anchor-Based Approach is a structured psychological methodology developed by Dr Hanan Bushkin. It helps people identify meaningful direction, translate that direction into realistic behaviour, and use review as a disciplined way to learn and move forward.

Question from the ABA community · 02

Why does ABA begin with anchors?

Dr Hanan Bushkin

Psychologist · Founder of ABA

ABA uses a 15-anchor model comprising nine core anchors and six sub-anchors. Anchors are defined areas of life that help organise attention around what matters, identify where meaningful movement is needed and connect practical action with a wider sense of direction.

Question from the ABA community · 03

How do the nine principles work together?

Dr Hanan Bushkin

Psychologist · Founder of ABA

The principles form an ordered framework for understanding emotional states, beliefs, behaviour, investment, choice, physiology and personal strength. Their value comes from the way they work together, turning psychological insight into a practical sequence for daily life.

Question from the ABA community · 04

What makes ABA different from a collection of motivational ideas?

Dr Hanan Bushkin

Psychologist · Founder of ABA

ABA is designed as a coherent methodology rather than a set of isolated tips. It uses consistent terminology, ordered principles, structured plans, observable behaviour, tracking and recalibration to help people work systematically with meaningful change.
