WHAT IS ABA?
Anchor-Based Approach (ABA) is a method psychotherapy that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, physiology, and behaviours. ABA training programs teach individuals how to identify negative patterns of behaviours, challenge them, and replace them with more positive, productive ones.

A typical ABA therapeutic program includes the following steps:
1. Assessment: The therapist will assess the individual's goals and highlight the pattern of self-sabotaging behaviours which need to be addressed in therapy.
2. Education: The therapist will educate the individual on the concept of ABA. This includes the 9 essential principles and the anchor system which are the foundation of the ABA method. The 9 principles include: (1) the 5 emotional states (2) core beliefs (3) behaviour is king (4) coin theory (5) escher (6) never sit on the fence (7) what are emotions (8) changing physiology (9) unconditional attitude of strength
3. Identifying self-sabotaging behavioural patterns: The therapist will work with the individual to identify negative behavioural patterns which ultimately stop the individual from reaching their goals
4. Challenging negative behavioural patterns: The therapist will help the individual to challenge their negative behaviours by creating a blueprint to drive the positive behaviours, ultimately creating experiences which contradicts the original negative patterns. This helps reduce the intensity of the old negative patterns of behaviours and start to produce positive experience which help the individual reach their goals.
5. Practice: The individual will practice using the new blueprint to change their behaviour and experience in real-life situations, with the therapist's support.
6. Consolidation: The therapist will work with the individual to consolidate their newfound skills and help them to integrate them into their daily lives.

ABA method can be conducted in individual or group therapy settings, and may last anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending on the individual's needs. The goal of ABA training is to empower individuals to manage their thoughts, emotions, and physiology and behaviours more effectively with the use of a blueprint with ultimate aim of reaching goals and improving overall quality of life.
